Building the capacity of

SCHOOLS LEADERSHIP TRAINING

GROUPS IN THE

COMMUNITY

Anchor 1

For more information on the Sydney Alliance please visit the Sydney Alliance website at http://www.sydneyalliance.org.au/.

The CDO is eager to build relationships with more schools, and bring this excellent training to more student leaders, so if your school is interested please contact Jessica Fell, the Community Worker, on  comworker1@iswcdo.org.au or 0429 111 009.

The purpose of the program is to develop the capacity of student leaders to lead their school community (and to lead in the wider community), and give them the leadership skills to have ownership over their student leadership positions.

Staff and students will learn:

  • How to take effective action on issues in their communities

  • Peer and community organising skills including building public relationships, listening campaigns and power analysis

  • Leadership skills including building effective volunteer organisations inside schools and responding to community needs

Staff and students will meet:

  • Other students passionate about social justice, leadership and building a stronger community

  • Trainers and small group leaders from across Sydney’s diverse civil society organisations

The training is open to students that:

  • Are current or future student leaders;

  • Have an interest in social justice;

  • Involved in Sydney Alliance activities in 2014, 2015 or 2016
